Traditional ballet classes focused on creating a kind and supportive community and environment for learning the art of dance.

For students and parents who prefer to study classical ballet and be in a studio enviornment focused on on esprit de corps, community and shared artistry rather than competition.

Our goal is to foster mental and physical skills in students as they learn to dance together with greater awareness, skill and spirit.

Miss Sherylanne Bonzcek, Teaching Artist and Ballet Instructor

Teaching allows me to share the love of dance that has shaped my life and to introduce children to ballet as a place of creativity, confidence, and self-expression. In my classes, I strive to create a supportive and encouraging environment where students feel safe to explore movement, celebrate progress, and experience the joy that dance can bring—values that are at the very heart of SpiritJoyDance.

I began my ballet journey at the age of eight at DanceArt Studio, where I first fell in love with the beauty, discipline, and storytelling of dance. From there, my training continued at City Ballet in Raleigh, NC, and later at NC Dance Institute. These experiences eventually led me to the pre-professional program at the Carolina Ballet Company, where I had the privilege of performing in several in-studio productions alongside the company’s principal dancers. Those years shaped not only my technique, but also my deep appreciation for ballet as an expressive and meaningful art form.

In 2019, I stepped away from ballet to focus on my college education. While my path shifted, my connection to dance never truly left me. After graduating, I felt a strong pull to return to movement and began searching for a studio that honored both technical growth and the joy of dancing. SpiritJoyDance was one of the first studios I found, and from my very first class, it felt like coming home.

SpiritJoyDance has given me the space to reconnect with ballet in a way that is nurturing, mindful, and joyful. The studio’s emphasis on moving with intention, honoring the body, and dancing from the heart deeply resonates with me. After more than a year of training here, I was invited to begin teaching young students—an opportunity I accepted with excitement and gratitude.
